Bola Ties

Arizona's official neckwear was the creation of Wickenburgian Vic Cedarstaff, who came up with the idea of the bola tie in about 1949 and patented his design about 10 years later. Popularized by Phoenix newscaster Bill Close who wore a dazzling array of bolas while on the air, the bola tie has since traveled around the world. Some of its finest representations are here in the Museum, including Cedarstaff's original 1949 design. The Museum is the repository for the archives of the Arizona Bola Tie Society.
